UPDATES

Sorry it has been a long time since I have updated the website. The week of Christmas I had to take little John to appointments very day. Then for Christmas we took him to his aunt Jennys and to my moms house. This week I took little John to the doctors and he had gained 14 ounces in 6 days. It was all fluid. He had fluid in his lungs and in his skin tissue. So his doctor upped his meds for the fluid and we go back on the 3rd to see if the fluid is gone. I can tell that its working because he's breathing a bit better. Also the same day his doctor sent us to the hospital because he thought that his hernia surgery came apart and ruptured. So he had a ultrasound done and there was alot of fluid in his scrotum. My poor baby!!! It looks like it really hurt and I'm sure it does. They also done some blood work while we where at the hospital. This breaks my heart that he STILL has to go though these painful things. I guess that in my mind I thought that once he came home that the pain would stop and we could protect him from going through these things. Today was another hard day because he had his eyes checked for his R.O.P. and that's getting better but he still has to go back in three weeks. Its still not gone but it is getting better. The bad news is in his right eye he has cataracts. Me and John where wondering what the white spot was in the middle of his pupil and now we know. So on his next eye appointment he will be referred to another eye doctor that deals with infants eyes. His eye doctor that he goes to now only deals with the retinas and retinal surgeries. So he will have another eye doctor and chances are another eye surgery. I pray that someday soon that he wont have to go though all this and that he wont have so many doctors appointments.

On a up note we had a good Christmas and Daven got alot of great stuff. He loved the Jersery that grandma Trina sent him from England. Little John got some really cute clothes. Little Johns nurse from the NICU sent him two very cute outfits. Little John thanks you Aunt Diane!!! Me and John are hoping that 2006 will be a better year for us. Little John was the best thing that happened to us. I wouldn't give him up for anything. I never thought it was possible to love someone so much that it hurts.

Well I will write more later and I will try to update the site more often. I hope everybody has a great new years. And may the new year bring you happiness and good health. Love and Hugs!!

THERAPY EVALUATIONS

Little John had his first evaluation done on Wednesday. There was a speech and physical therapist that came out to the house to see how he was coming along. They both said that he was where he was supposed to be in some areas and in other areas he was ahead. YEA!!!! I have been worried about this for awhile so it was nice to hear that( so far)things are moving along good. They will still be coming to the house once a month for now to make sure he's where he's supposed to be.

He has been smiling at us and has pretty good head control. He can hold his head up and look around when he's on his stomach. I've been working with him on some things myself. They also gave us some ideas to do with him, like getting black and white pictures. Also things like a mirror, rattlers that go on his wrists, toys that light up and other thing that I have been doing anyways. I get on the computer and look for things I can do to help our little guy along.

Next week is a very busy week for me and little john. Monday I take him to go get his RSV shot, Tuesday we go see Dr. Smith about his hernia surgery(follow-up), Wednesday first steps, Thursday his regular doctor and Friday there's nothing yet.(shhh, maybe I'm speaking to early lol)

Have I mentioned I cant wait until spring!!! I have been out of the house two times to go to the store and grab a bite to eat. Except to take little man to the doctors. But it is all worth it. I'm hoping though that the winter will go by quick. That way there is a smaller chance that little John will get sick and I can take him out in the real world.

I'm hoping to get some pics on here this weekend. Jennys coming over and bringing her digital camera so I plan on taking some pictures of little John and Daven. I Hope all is well with everybody and hope everybody will have a great Christmas. Love and hugs!!!

LITTLE JOHNS EYE APPT.

Little Johns eye appt. went good this week. The doctor said that his eyes are doing alot better then other babies eyes do. He doesn't have to go back for three weeks. YEAH!!! I really hate taking him out in this cold and snowy weather. I only have to take him out once next week and that's to go to his regular doctor. This is the only week this month that I only have to take him out once. Usually he has three appt a week. First steps will come on Wednesday to see if he needs therapy yet. I'm really glad that they come to the house to do therapy if he needs it now. It is really hard to take him out because only one person and carry everything. So you have to carry little John in his carseat then you have his apnea monitor and his oxygen you have to carry at the same time. He has another monitor that he uses at night, that's his pulse ox and it measures the oxygen in his blood. I'm lucky I don't have to lug that one around too. But its all worth it!! I love having him home!! I think me and John are spoiling him rotten already. I guess we feel that he definitely deserves it and more for all he was gone through.

His regular doctor said that he would be on the apnea monitor for at least four or five more months. Not sure how long he will need to be on the oxygen. Well I will update soon and I hope everything is going great with everyone. I have to go feed our baby boy. I hope everyone is staying warm!!

LITTLE JOHNS DOCTORS APPT.

Little Johns lungs looked better at his doctors appt. And he also weighed 6 pounds and 7 ounces. Boy he sure as came a long way from 1 pound and 9 ounces. I take him to the eye doctor in the morning at 8:30. I'm glad its tomorrow since we are going to get 4 to 6 inches of snow tomorrow night. Its hard to get little John around anyways but it would be even harder in alot of snow. He's been eating good and when he's laying on my chest he will lift his head up and look around.

Just in case I haven't told all of you that even though little John is 4 months old he is considered to be three weeks old. So when he turns 5 months his corrected age will be one month old and so on. It will be this way until he his two years old. He is doing things right know that a one month old would be doing and even some things a two month would do. Next week first steps is coming to the house to see if he needs any therapies yet. Well I will update you about his eye appt. Tomorrow. I hope all is well with everyone. We send out our love to everyone too.

LITTLE JOHN AT HOME

Me and John put the Christmas tree up last night. We are going to take some pics of us and little john in front of it. Tomorrow I take him back to the doctors. He wanted him to loss at least 5 oz by tomorrow. I think he has because all of his diapers have been pretty heavy. We will have a pretty busy week. Tomorrow first steps is coming in the morning then we go to the doctors in the afternoon. Tuesday oxygen will be delivered and on Thursday we go to the eye doctor.

We put little John in his swing today for the first time and he loves it!!! He's getting so big now. When he is laying on my chest in bed he raises his head up and looks around. He just started doing this in the last couple of days. I'm hoping to get a digital camera in a couple of months so I can get pics on here faster. I took some cute pics of Daven holding little John this weekend. I will put them on here win I get them back. I will update in a day or so about little Johns doctors appt. Make sure you scroll down and look at all the new pics!!!

LITTLE JOHN IS HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant believe it. Since he has been home it sometimes seems like a dream. It has been a very very long 113 days. That's how long he was in the nicu. That's three months and three weeks. What a wonderful thanksgiving. Me and John have so much to be thankful for. Little John is a great baby. He isn't a very fussy baby(yet anyway) and he smiles at us when we are talking to him. John has been so great, he has been helping around the house and even let me sleep during little Johns night feeding last night. We love it so much that he is finally home. Its been a long time coming. We gave him his first bath at home on Friday and it took two of us to do it!! He was wiggling all over! We took pictures of him taking his bath, when he was in his carseat leaving the hospital and when he was finally at home!! As soon has we get those back I will put them on the website.

I'm sorry that I haven't updated the site this week but we were very busy getting things ready and then when he got home we had to settle him in. I will start updating more now that things are settling down a little. I hope all is while with everyone and I will be updated again soon. Thank you for all the prayers and all the help with getting my little guy things. Me and John are very VERY thankful for the baby things that we have received for little John. THANKS!!!!

VERY VERY LONG DAY

Today was a very long day for me and John. It started at 9 a.m. and ended at 5 this evening. Things went really well but it was a stressful day. He went to the o.r. room on the vent but came back without it!!! He didnt need it. They said his vocal cords where still swelling thats way he isnt making much noise. So we where relieved about that because it could have been much more serious. His hernia surgery went great also.

We asked the doctor "So want has to happen now for him to come home?" He said "Well he has to recover from this and start his feedings again." We asked how long do you think that will be and he said oh four or five days. So if things go good our baby boy is COMING HOME NEXT WEEK!!!!!! We think maybe next friday but who knows. Its all up to little john and the doctors. His doctor also said that he would have been home four or five days ago if it wasnt for the surgerys he had today. His eye doctor also came by early this morning around 6a.m. and said that his eyes are looking better. So even thou we had a stressful day there was alot of good news. I will write more in a day or so. Im just wiped out. The picture below was taken yesterday and I just had to put it on the site tonight. Thanks for all the prayers.

P.S. Today is also little Johns due date.

ONE OF MOMMY AND DADDYS FAVORITE PICS

He looks so cute and just look at that wonderful smile!!! It makes my heart melt everytime I see it!!!

PRAYERS FOR LITTLE JOHN

Little John will be going into surgery at 2pm tomorrow(thursday the 17th) which is his due date. So please pray for him. He will be having three surgerys and we are praying this will be the last ones for a long, long time. He weighs 5 pounds and 6 ounces. Me and John spent four hours tonight just holding him. We are going up there as soon as we get up in the morning. They stop his feedings at 4am in the morning. So hes going to start fussing around 8 or so because hes going to be hungry. We want to be there so we can hold him and try to settle him down some. He will get put back on the vent about a hour before they take him to the O.R. room. We get to go with him to the room so we can kiss him and pray that things will go good. I will try to write tomorrow night but we might be up there late. If I dont I will update the website on friday. Thank you for your prayers and please think of little John tomorrow.

LITTLE JOHNS NOT SO LITTLE ANYMORE

Can I get a drum roll please.......ddrrrrrrrruuuuummmmmmm Little John weights 5pounds and 3 ounces!!!!!! He is taking all of his bottles and he hasn't had his feeding tube in since last Wednesday. At some of his feedings he even wants more then he is supposed to have. Some more good news is that he is going short periods of time with no oxygen!!!Yes I said No oxygen!! They started this yesterday and the longest period of time he went was three hours and that was last night. Me and John gave little John is first real bath on Saturday. We took some pictures of him in the bath and some when he was naked before his bath. We had to take some embarrassing pictures of him so we can show them to him when he gets older. ;) Doctor Walker his eye doctor looked at his eyes again on Saturday and said they appeared to be improving. Maybe this week some time we will know more I hope.

Well his surgery is fast approaching and everyday it gets closer I get more nervous. Now not only is he having hernia surgery but they are going to give him a bronchoscopy. This is when they stick a camera down his throat and see if something is going on. He isn't making any noises and they need to see if there is something wrong with his vocal cords or is trachea. And he is getting circumcised at the same time. We are very scared to see what is going on with is voice but we also need to know so we can deal with it. My poor baby has to go through 3 surgeries at the same time. I pray to God that this will be all for now. And I also pray that little John will be home very soon. I will write more in a day or two. Thanks for all the prayers and please please pray for little John on Thursday. Make sure you scroll down to see new pictures.

LITTLE JOHN IS DOING GOOD

Sorry I haven't updated the site in a while but me and John have been busy trying to get things in order. Little john is at 1/8L and his oxygen is any where from 25% to 50%. 1/8L is the lowest that it will go. We have to turn his oxygen up to 50% when he is taking his bottle because its a lot of work for him. He has been doing very good taking his bottle. He takes about every one of his feeding by bottle. He gets 55cc's (2 ounces) every four hours. We think that if it wasn't for his hernia surgery next Thursday that he would have been home by next weekend. So we have to start all over again. He has to go back on the vent, stop feedings and rest for a day or two. He are praying that this will be his last surgery for a very very long time. And that he will have a quick recovery.

His eye doctor (Dr. Walker) came by on Thursday and looked at his eyes. He said that it doesn't look like they are progressing but we would know more in a week or two. Oh yeah I almost forgot he weighs a whooping 4 pounds and 14 ounces. Two more ounces and he will be 5 pounds. He is getting some extra calories with each feeding to try to get more weight on him. I think by this weekend he will be 5 pounds. Well I will update the site in a day or two. I hope all is well with everyone. And please keep praying for our little guy!!!

LITTLE JOHN IS DOING WELL

Little John is on regular oxygen now. He's at 1/4L and his oxygen is any where from 23% to room air.(Which is 21%) He is doing better now on his oxygen then before his surgery. His feedings went up to 42cc's every three hours. He weighs 4 pounds and 12 ounces.

Me and John spent alot of time with him this weekend. We hold him for many hours at a time and take care of his needs while we are there. Its getting harder and harder for me and John to leave him at the hospital. We are still hoping he will be home before thanksgiving. Maybe after his surgery on the 17th. Right now he's working on his bottle feeding and breathing. He has to at least be able to take a bottle before he can come home. He can come home on what oxygen that he is on right now but we are hoping that maybe he wont have to. Its all a waiting game. I will write more tomorrow or the next day. I hope all is well with everyone. Thanks for praying for us and little John. I hope you like the pictures and there is more to come.
