LITTLE JOHN IS HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant believe it. Since he has been home it sometimes seems like a dream. It has been a very very long 113 days. That's how long he was in the nicu. That's three months and three weeks. What a wonderful thanksgiving. Me and John have so much to be thankful for. Little John is a great baby. He isn't a very fussy baby(yet anyway) and he smiles at us when we are talking to him. John has been so great, he has been helping around the house and even let me sleep during little Johns night feeding last night. We love it so much that he is finally home. Its been a long time coming. We gave him his first bath at home on Friday and it took two of us to do it!! He was wiggling all over! We took pictures of him taking his bath, when he was in his carseat leaving the hospital and when he was finally at home!! As soon has we get those back I will put them on the website.

I'm sorry that I haven't updated the site this week but we were very busy getting things ready and then when he got home we had to settle him in. I will start updating more now that things are settling down a little. I hope all is while with everyone and I will be updated again soon. Thank you for all the prayers and all the help with getting my little guy things. Me and John are very VERY thankful for the baby things that we have received for little John. THANKS!!!!

VERY VERY LONG DAY

Today was a very long day for me and John. It started at 9 a.m. and ended at 5 this evening. Things went really well but it was a stressful day. He went to the o.r. room on the vent but came back without it!!! He didnt need it. They said his vocal cords where still swelling thats way he isnt making much noise. So we where relieved about that because it could have been much more serious. His hernia surgery went great also.

We asked the doctor "So want has to happen now for him to come home?" He said "Well he has to recover from this and start his feedings again." We asked how long do you think that will be and he said oh four or five days. So if things go good our baby boy is COMING HOME NEXT WEEK!!!!!! We think maybe next friday but who knows. Its all up to little john and the doctors. His doctor also said that he would have been home four or five days ago if it wasnt for the surgerys he had today. His eye doctor also came by early this morning around 6a.m. and said that his eyes are looking better. So even thou we had a stressful day there was alot of good news. I will write more in a day or so. Im just wiped out. The picture below was taken yesterday and I just had to put it on the site tonight. Thanks for all the prayers.

P.S. Today is also little Johns due date.

PRAYERS FOR LITTLE JOHN

Little John will be going into surgery at 2pm tomorrow(thursday the 17th) which is his due date. So please pray for him. He will be having three surgerys and we are praying this will be the last ones for a long, long time. He weighs 5 pounds and 6 ounces. Me and John spent four hours tonight just holding him. We are going up there as soon as we get up in the morning. They stop his feedings at 4am in the morning. So hes going to start fussing around 8 or so because hes going to be hungry. We want to be there so we can hold him and try to settle him down some. He will get put back on the vent about a hour before they take him to the O.R. room. We get to go with him to the room so we can kiss him and pray that things will go good. I will try to write tomorrow night but we might be up there late. If I dont I will update the website on friday. Thank you for your prayers and please think of little John tomorrow.

LITTLE JOHNS NOT SO LITTLE ANYMORE

Can I get a drum roll please.......ddrrrrrrrruuuuummmmmmm Little John weights 5pounds and 3 ounces!!!!!! He is taking all of his bottles and he hasn't had his feeding tube in since last Wednesday. At some of his feedings he even wants more then he is supposed to have. Some more good news is that he is going short periods of time with no oxygen!!!Yes I said No oxygen!! They started this yesterday and the longest period of time he went was three hours and that was last night. Me and John gave little John is first real bath on Saturday. We took some pictures of him in the bath and some when he was naked before his bath. We had to take some embarrassing pictures of him so we can show them to him when he gets older. ;) Doctor Walker his eye doctor looked at his eyes again on Saturday and said they appeared to be improving. Maybe this week some time we will know more I hope.

Well his surgery is fast approaching and everyday it gets closer I get more nervous. Now not only is he having hernia surgery but they are going to give him a bronchoscopy. This is when they stick a camera down his throat and see if something is going on. He isn't making any noises and they need to see if there is something wrong with his vocal cords or is trachea. And he is getting circumcised at the same time. We are very scared to see what is going on with is voice but we also need to know so we can deal with it. My poor baby has to go through 3 surgeries at the same time. I pray to God that this will be all for now. And I also pray that little John will be home very soon. I will write more in a day or two. Thanks for all the prayers and please please pray for little John on Thursday. Make sure you scroll down to see new pictures.

LITTLE JOHN IS DOING GOOD

Sorry I haven't updated the site in a while but me and John have been busy trying to get things in order. Little john is at 1/8L and his oxygen is any where from 25% to 50%. 1/8L is the lowest that it will go. We have to turn his oxygen up to 50% when he is taking his bottle because its a lot of work for him. He has been doing very good taking his bottle. He takes about every one of his feeding by bottle. He gets 55cc's (2 ounces) every four hours. We think that if it wasn't for his hernia surgery next Thursday that he would have been home by next weekend. So we have to start all over again. He has to go back on the vent, stop feedings and rest for a day or two. He are praying that this will be his last surgery for a very very long time. And that he will have a quick recovery.

His eye doctor (Dr. Walker) came by on Thursday and looked at his eyes. He said that it doesn't look like they are progressing but we would know more in a week or two. Oh yeah I almost forgot he weighs a whooping 4 pounds and 14 ounces. Two more ounces and he will be 5 pounds. He is getting some extra calories with each feeding to try to get more weight on him. I think by this weekend he will be 5 pounds. Well I will update the site in a day or two. I hope all is well with everyone. And please keep praying for our little guy!!!

LITTLE JOHN IS DOING WELL

Little John is on regular oxygen now. He's at 1/4L and his oxygen is any where from 23% to room air.(Which is 21%) He is doing better now on his oxygen then before his surgery. His feedings went up to 42cc's every three hours. He weighs 4 pounds and 12 ounces.

Me and John spent alot of time with him this weekend. We hold him for many hours at a time and take care of his needs while we are there. Its getting harder and harder for me and John to leave him at the hospital. We are still hoping he will be home before thanksgiving. Maybe after his surgery on the 17th. Right now he's working on his bottle feeding and breathing. He has to at least be able to take a bottle before he can come home. He can come home on what oxygen that he is on right now but we are hoping that maybe he wont have to. Its all a waiting game. I will write more tomorrow or the next day. I hope all is well with everyone. Thanks for praying for us and little John. I hope you like the pictures and there is more to come.

Little John and Daven

Little John is much improved since yesterday. He's on the vapertherm and is expected to be on regular oxygen by tomorrow or Sunday. His feedings went up to 40cc every three hours. He was only getting 35 before the surgery so that's a great thing. He's back out into a open crib now. His swelling has went way down. He weighs 4 pounds and 10 ounces. We have some great Halloween pictures that I would love to put on his website, if his daddy would bring them home from work.(Hint Hint dad) We were able to hold him tonight. We haven't been able to hold him since Tuesday.

Now about Daven. He was at kids care yesterday and got into a little tiff with a eighth grader. (long story). Well in the end of the tiff Daven fell and the eighth grader fell on him. So daven fractured his arm two inches above his wrist. So we went to the F.W.O. and they couldn't fix it because he had food and water. So today me and Windy took him back. They put him to sleep for 30 min., put it back together and put a cast on. Its on his right arm and that's the one he writes with. And we all now how he's going to be with his adhd. Its going to be hard because there wont be much he can do.

Well I will write more this weekend.I hope all is well with everyone.

LITTLE JOHNS RECOVERY

Well last night was a scary one. Little Johns heart and sats kept on dropping very low. They had to bag him a few times and his nurse had to give him heart compressions once. So far since 4am this morning he hasn't had any episodes. I'm praying that there wont be anymore. His little face and body is still swelling up pretty good. We are hoping that they will start giving him his meds. again. He has another surgery in two weeks. Today I was supposed to have had a c-section. Even though his due date is on the 17th. I will write more maybe tonight. Oh, by the way little John is three months old today.

UPDATE ON LITTLE JOHN'S SURGERY

Well little John had his surgery yesterday. Things went pretty good. He had to go back to the other side and went back on the vent again:( It was hard to see him that way again. The surgery took almost two hours. The eye doctor says that if this doesn't work that there is one more surgery that they could try but he would have to be taken to Detroit, Mich. I did some research on the computer about this other surgery and the outcome isn't that great. But if this doesn't work and there's a change even a small one we will take it. But that's getting a head of ourselves. We have to wait for two or three weeks to find out if this surgery helped or not. Today he was all swelled up in his little face and body. The good news is that he is off the vent again!!YEAH!!! He was only on the vent for 24 hours. He was been off of the vent for 3 1/2 hours so far. His doctors have started him back on his feedings again but slowly. I will update the site when we know more.

ANOTHER ROLLER-COASTER RIDE

Little John has to have eye surgery either today or in the next two days. His R.O.P. has went to stage 3. There's a 20% chance he could go blind but if all goes good he's pretty much guaranteed to have to wear glasses. We wont know the out come until two or three weeks. We found out last night so we didn't have a very good Halloween. But we took pictures with him in his Halloween outfit and he looks sooo CUTE!!!!! I will put them on here very soon. Dr. Smith called this morning and he's going to do little Johns hernia surgery on November 17th. Which was his due date. He now has two hernias, one on each side of his groan area. Please Please pray for him. We are so worried about our little guy. I just want him to come home so I can take care of him. I was up there for 7 hours yesterday and Diane(his primary nurse during the day) let me take care of him all day by myself.

Thursday little John will be three months old. Plus that's when he was going to be born. I was supposed to have a c-section two weeks before his due date. So that would have been on the 3rd two weeks before the 17th.

I will write more when I know what's going on with his surgeries. Again please pray for him.
